Samui Airport safety measures attempt to reduce the risk of passengers and employees on COVID-19 as flight operation resumes. In fact, airports around the world implement an additional protocol for departing and arriving travelers. Face mask, goggles, face shield, hand sanitizer and alcohol are now part of everyone’s “new normal“.
As passengers gear themselves before their scheduled flights, Samui Airport prepares as well for the movement of people at the airport; passengers and employees. The added Samui Airport safety measures effective on 15 May 2020 onward aim to make air travel as safe as possible.
STAFF READINESS
There is no exception to the rule. That is to say, all Samui Airport staff and airline employees, including store staff and tenants, are to wear a face mask at all times.
Everyone goes through body temperature check too at one or more designated airport entry points.
SANITIZER SERVICE STATIONS
Hand sanitizers are now everywhere and easily to spot. For hygiene purposes, Samui Airport safety measures include special designated areas for sanitizers as well as alcohol. However, there are certain regulations to follow.
Each station should have sufficient stock at all times.
Stations should be cleaned hourly with antiseptic and alcohol. Same with frequently touched areas or surfaces in the terminal such as check-in counters, boarding gates, shuttle tram handrails and restrooms.
PASSENGER SERVICE READINESS
Other than the usual security screening, both inbound and outbound passengers now undergo an additional series of screening as part of Samui Airport safety measures.
First is body temperature check. Now that health is at risk, this practice is becoming a part of airline boarding procedure even if there are so-called asymptomatic patients.
Second, declaring travel history is a must. It helps to contact trace passengers, especially from those with high coronavirus cases.
Third, passengers should pass through the screening process by the Thailand Department of Disease Control.
Lastly, all boarding, transiting and arriving passengers must wear a face mask at all times.
OPERATIONAL READINESS
Social distancing is one of the known practices amid COVID-19. With this in mind, the said protocol is also part of Samui Airport safety measures.
Authorities placed arrows and marked areas to demonstrate the necessary 1.5 to 2.0 meters distance. Thus, highly observed at check-in counters, immigration, ticket inspection points, luggage claim area and shuttle service.
Following preventive safety measures, especially when traveling is one step to lower the risk of getting infected with the coronavirus. Given that airports are obviously busy round the clock.
